    Per Texas Department of Public Safety - Driver License Division

    Once you have held your permit for 6 months and have reached age 16, you can get phase one of the drivers license.

    This means you can start at 15 and a half with drivers education.

    16 just like every other state. ages for when you can first drive either with a permit or an adults license is different.

    drivers licenses don't matter there.

    but you 'legally' have to be 16.
