Skipping a mortgage payment when you refinance really depends on the day of the month you close on your refinance. Typically, if your refinance funds on the 1st through the 7th of the month, your next monthly payment will be due the 1st of the following month.
If your loan funds on the 8th through the 31st, then you will be able to skip a month and make your payment the following month. Because there is a 3-day Right of Rescission, skipping a payment is not determined on the closing date, but rather the funding date. For example, if you closed your loan on Monday, March 2, then the rescission days would be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The loan would then fund on Friday, March 6. Your next payment would be due on April 1. If you closed your loan on Thursday, March 5, the the rescission days would be Friday, Saturday and Monday (Sundays don't count in the rescission period) and the loan would fund on Tuesday, March 10. Your next payment would not be due until May 1.
Each lender is different, but this is how most banks operate.
I hope this helps.
