► At a moderate pace, each juz takes about one hour to read. There are 30 ajza in the Qur'aan, so I would say about 30 hours.

► There are two english translations that are good:

    SHAKIR

    YUSUFALI

MashAllah I'm happy that you're taking the step to read the Qu'ran for the first time. Are you a revert? Before you read I just want you to tell you a few things that will help (you may already know this but inshaAllah if you don't I will get hassanat for being the first to tell you):

    - Please think of the context of the Qu'ran. It is Allah's words, so read it with an open heart and open mind.

    - The Qu'ran is not an ordinary book, so please treat it with respect. Store it in a clean place.

    - If you know how to make wudu, please do it before you touch the Qu'ran. Otherwise if you don't know that's fine, just make sure that you are clean eg. just taken a shower and that your body is free from impurities eg. faeces, blood etc

    - The Qu'ran is only a benefit to you if you recite it, because from it you will gain knowledge and understanding.

    - On the day of judgment, the Qu'ran will testify for you to Allah (swt). E.g. it will say how much or how little we recited it.

As for how long it took me to read the Qu'ran, it took almost a year! However I did not read it every day, but I took the time to contemplate over what I was reading. I was advised that when reading the Qu'ran that it is better to read it little by little (a few paragraphs at a time) so that you can contemplate its meaning. If you try and read it all in one go, you lose its meaning, especially if its your first time.

May Allah reward you the best of rewards for reading the Qu'ran!

    Salam.

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah. The entire Qur'an can be read in a very short time if you have more time, fluent reading in arabic and diligent the quickest way is 30 hours so you must finish it in one hour per juz because the Qur'an has 30 juzs in 114 surahs with its title since Al Fatihah upto An Naas and in 6.236 verses at all,But 30 hours is not include to understand its meaning in English or another language

    .

I myself have read the entire Qur'an in 30 days during the last rama

dan, where I tried also to understand its meaning in my own language because I am an Indonesian. who do not know arabic too.

Now after ramadan I am reading everyday its tafsir or interpretation of the whole Qur'an upto book 5 of Tafsir Al Qurthubi which has 7 volum es.

You can read the translation of the Qur'an which is written by welknown islamic scholar writer such as Ibnu Katsir ,Ali etc.You can ask for its information from an imam of a mosque or from Islamic center in your country.

Mashallah .. its so nice to know that u are interested in reading the Quran al kareem .. Most people i know don't even care much about it and obviously do no know the virtues of reading the Quran al kareem ..

You should read as much as u feel like in a day .. do not rush yrself into it .. take deep interest and read it slowly .. u say u havent ever read the Quran al kareem ever before .. so i suggest u start by 4 or 5 pages after every Salah .. like this u will be able to read atleast 20 pages per day .. and then u should slowly and gradually increase how much u read after u have gained fluency in arabic .. u get reward for reading it in arabic .. and Allah swt commands us to read and UNDERSTAND its meaning .. so u should have an arabic quran al kareem with an english translation .. so as u read it in arabic u also understand the meaning of Allah swt divine words.

Don'y worry about how much time it takes for you to read it. What matters is your intention. Your intention should be pure. Your intention for reading the Quran al kareem is that u are doing it because Allah swt ordered you .. u are doing it all for Allah swt. Do not give up .. it can be a little hard for beginners to read in Arabic .. but remember the more u struugle and u r persistant on doing it for Allah swt sake then u will get so much reward.

Reading the Quran al kareem is every Muslim's duty to Allah swt.

It is different for every person. It depends on your reading style, the translation you read (and your ability to understand the way in which it is written), as well as what your actual purpose is in reading.

If you read it simply to get through it, and you get a translation that is accurate yet understandable, it may not take you that long.

However, I started over three times before I could force myself to stop going back to the beginning. I felt I was not getting everything, despite the fact I read slowly and pondered the meanings as I went along. I'm the type of person who can read a book in one day, and the Quran is not that long... yet unlike most things, it is very detailed, and the details are actually important when it comes to the Quran as a whole.

Not to mention I switched over to listening to the Quran in arabic as well as english, each ayah in each language as I go along. Not only am I hearing the Quran twice (twice as long) but I read faster than the speakers. That's on the weekdays. On the weekends I actually read, and it takes me only a fraction of the time to get through in one hour what I got through in 3 or 4 hours of listening. So.. I started quite a few months ago, but I'm only about halfway through it.

That's just my method though, and it works for me. So really, it depends on exactly how much you want to take in, rather than just get through. I've heard to many translations given on this website, so I'll let you figure out on your own which ones are right.

I'd just advise that before you go buy a translated Quran to read, go to amazon.com, as they usually provide a selection within the book (which is really helpful if you want to see the way in which it reads). I am all for accuracy, but if it reads like the king james version bible... well, I gain little from words I have trouble understanding. If you are unsure about accuracy, compare a few different translations, and make sure they go along with each other. None will be exact (unless it is in arabic), but most SHOULD have the same meaning as the last.

If you want to try listening instead (or beside the reading), you can go here. http://www.quranexplorer.com/ Just click on "launch Quran explorer"

Reading in English, im not sure, you'd have to read very carefully and make sure you understand properly

In Arabic, well i read somewhere, that if you read the whole Quran in less than three days, then you haven't read it properly. So more than three days i guess

Reading the quraan is a big thing alone, but to understand the quraan is much beneficial.

I have friend who reads a few paragraphs (translation) every morning.

so I would say that no one can actually answer your question on "how long would it take me to read the entire quran?".

You need to make sure which translation you are reading as there are many translations out there which can lead you astray. Any way here is one which has been approved by many islamic scholars.

    Good luck.

If you've never read the Qu'ran then I'm guessing you need some practice with Arabic.. learn and then read the Qu'ran

hmm..actually it depends on how often you read it..well if you read about 4 or 5 pages a day,you probably can finish the whole Quran maybe in 4 or 5 month..idk. just take our time n don get rush bcoz what is more important is the lessons from Quran itself.

for the translation, why don you go to http://www.searchtruth.com/ to download Quran Auto Reciter.there are translation in many languages including english, french, spanish, portuguese, malay, farsi etc.

    hope this can help you.
