Yup, I live in icy cold Alaska and I wouldn't mind it getting warmer. I would be happy to grow bananas instead of cranberries. Or to have a shorter winter.
However, global climate change won't just put me under a beach umbrella. It could also make it wetter in some places, or increase pollution from forest fires, and affect the food sources and lifestyles of peoples across the globe, especially the Inuit in northern Canada. The negative effects worldwide probably outweigh the benefits of any additional days to my growing season.
The effects of climate change, whatever their cause, are more extreme in the Arctic. The more the frozen soil melts, the more Carbon Dioxide is released (from the permafrost) into the atmosphere, which makes it warmer, which melts more soil, and on and on.
All we can do is watch and see what happens.
