A SCUBA tank is what's called "Life Support Equipment". It's called that for a reason.

People die doing what you're suggesting. Don't even go there. Proper SCUBA gear is easy to come by. It's expensive, but there's a reason for that - it's very reliable. Don't take chances with the stuff that keeps you alive.

If you want to experience SCUBA diving, there's a very safe way to do it. Find a dive shop near you (you can look them up on the PADI website: http://www.padi.com/ ). Nearly every shop around offers a one evening activity called Discover SCUBA. You'll get some instruction, and you'll be able to get in the water using *real* SCUBA equipment. You'll get to see first-hand why using the proper stuff is the only safe thing to do.

And, if you're interested in getting certified to dive, talk to your parents. The PADI program will take kids as young as 8.

you can not do it yourself unless you want to hurt yourself with breathing bad air or trying to fill the tank a scuba tank is filled to 3000 psi then you would have to build the first and second stage regulators you would be better off buying these from a dive shop and getting certified for diving if you value your life (you could buy a super snorkel this is a air compressor a hose and a second stage regulator for much less but you would still need training)

very dangerous. if you try and fill it with anything but a breathing air compressor you risk death, but other than that any tank and regulator would work, unfortunately a dive shop will not fill an uncertified tank and a breathing air compressor is very expensive
