ive gotta learn to tap but i dont know if i need an fx pedal or not

tapping is happening regardless of how much gain is on. reverb helps liven it up, and high gain makes it easier to do pronounced tapping.

if your technique is there, and its still not pronounced enough a high gain pedal will help.
