Is Bob Dylan British?

Since The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Who all are, I was just wandering whether or not he is.

I was about to decide for myself whether or not England created the concept of the popular rock band. This was an important question that I first needed to answer.

For some background information, I've heard him sing and fully realize his inability to sing well, despite his superior song writing ability. All Along The Watchtower is my favorite Dylan song. That is, the Jimi Hendrix rendition of it.

He's American with Jewish ancestry. You may be getting a bit mixed up with Donovan who was a Scottish folk singer in the 1960s.

The Beatles had many American influences. But they grew out of the British skiffle music scene in the 1950s. Here is a link:

Of course, the Beatles set off a whole load of imitation groups.

Bob Dylan grew out of the American folk music protest scene. His idol was Woody Guthrie. It may have been listening to the Beatles that inspired him to trade his acoustic guitar for an electric one. In turn, John Lennon and Paul McCartney may have been influenced by Bob Dylan to write songs with more social conscience i.e. 'protest' lyrics, in their own English fashion.

The Rolling Stones were a great band in their own right but they did follow a lot of what the Beatles did, roughening up the style. The Who were a bit more mocking and abrasive. They did not write soft love songs and their performances were shambolic.

Other influences and movements which played a part:

relies upon what you propose. Donovan replaced right into a everyday persons singer who ripped off Dylan for some years interior the 60s and 70s, yet Dylan a procedures surpasses Donovan in terms of songwriting potential, variety, charm and sturdiness. If I had to compliment a British version of Dylan, i'd bypass with David Bowie, because of the fact he performs many categories of music, categories, and he remains very everyday. Cohen is Canadian, not British.
