Is the Noah’s Ark myth demonstrably false?
There are some myths that cannot be proved either way, like, the J man himself, Jesus; one can’t prove he was a real person and one can’t disprove it either. But the Noah’s Ark myth and the world wide flood; this is a demonstrably false myth, right?

Arkologists Claim to Have Found Noah's Ark
The Observer (London) by Martin Wroe
LONDON -- Noah's Ark has been found on the Turkish-Iranian border, 32 kilometres from Mount Ararat, according to the leader of a team of scientists that has been investigating the site for six years.
The Turkish government is so convinced by the findings that, after years of intransigence, it has designated the site one of special archaeological interest and agreed to its excavation next summer.
to the 300 cubit by 50 cubit boat that God told Noah to build, according to to hte Genesis 6 in the Bible.
On surrounding terrain, the American and Middle Eastern scientists have identified huge stones with holes carved at one end, which they believe are "drogue-stones," dragged behind ships in the ancient world to stabilise them. Radar soundings indicate unusual levels of iron-oxide distribution.
Salih Bayraktutan, head of geology at Turkey's Ataturk University, estimates the age of the 'vessel' at more than 100,000 years. "It is a man-made structure and for sure it is Noah's Ark." The site is directly below the mountain of Al Judi, named in the Koran as the Ark's resting place.
David Fasold, an American shipwreck specialist with no religious affiliation, has led the investigation. He says subsurface radar surveys of the site have produced "very good pictures." "The radar imagery at about 25 metres down from the stern is so clear that you can count the floorboards between the walls."
He believes the team has found the fossilised remains of the upper deck and that the original reed substructure has disappeared. But the findings have infuriated the scores of Christian Ark-hunters who travel to Turkey, convinced the Ark will only be found on Mount Ararat.
Fasold, who calls himself an "Arkologist," also argues that it was not a great flood that pushed the Ark into the mountains. He says it was "an astronomical event causing a tectonic upheaval, a tidal bore causing gravitational pull in the ocean waters that forced the boat into the mountains."
Some of Fasold's team of geophysicists and geologists are reserving final judgement until the excavation and carbon-dating. But in a British TV series on the environment next month, team member Vendyl Jones, a Middle East archaeologist and inspiration for film character Indiana Jones, says it is "between maybe and probably" that they have found Noah's Ark.
The Quranic verse detailing about the resting place of the Noah's Ark is found in Chapter Hud, verse 44 (Quran 11:44). The verse says:
When the word went forth: "O earth! swallow up thy water and O sky! withhold (thy rain)!" and the water abated and the matter was ended. The Ark rested on Mount Judi and the word went forth: "Away with those who do wrong!"
The 49th verse of the same Chapter says:
Such are some of the stories of the Unseen which We have revealed unto you: before this neither you nor your people knew them. So persevere patiently: for the end is for those who are righteous.

I feel it may be based on true stories as floods were endemic to Mesopotamia. Indeed, much of what is now the Persian Gulf was dry land when the sea level was lower (during & shortly after the last Ice age), and may also have been the setting for the stories that became the Garden of Eden tale. So likely there were all sorts of events involving floods, maybe even notable stories of farmers rescuing their livestock in boats to get them to a Ziggurat, which were used as flood refuges. As myths are often embellished versions of real events (e.g. the Iliad,Trojan War, archaeologists finding Troy), it makes sense that the Biblical version may be an embellished version of a particular tale that was passed down and modified through the ages. So the reality behind it is likely a peasant farmer with a boat rescuing his pigs and chickens, and having to spend a whole day before he got to the safety of a Ziggurat! However, the myth as described in the Bible is essentially impossible, so you're not being closed minded to disbelieve it. I do too.

true, but we can find where the myth came from and how it was derived. the first record of a massive flood can be found in Sumeria and from there it can be traced all the way to the bible. each time it gets more exaggerated. even today, YEC's want to put dinosaurs into the story. the first story though paints a very real event that is entirely possible. one where a river in Sumer(forget the name) floods yearly, even today. one year however it was a very bad flood and it wiped out most of the city's near and around it, while only 1 man and his family survived it because they were already on the river in their boat. supposedly he was a merchant that moved up and down the river selling mead, wheat, and goats. there is archeological evidence that supports this bad flood in the ruins of the cities and town along the river that were once there. many are popular dig sites. this could have easily been most of the "known world" when it occurred leaving a small population left that passed the story down and into new cultures. humans at this time period did not know what earth was and lived on a very small portion of it. they had no knowledge of anything outside this area and the world to them would be as big as iraq, generously. it is a fantastic story just in that regards alone. especially if you consider it being in that time period. its not hard to see how noahs ark can be derived from this. its probably the biggest game of telephone in human history.

If the story is true and only Noah and his family survived it would mean:One, the whole human race descended from one Jewish family within the last 4,500 years, and consequently all the Chinese, Africans, Indians and others races evolved within a very short period, a fact which has been proven by genetic research to be totally false. Population statistics state there are close to 7 billion people on the planet. There is absolutely no way one family could have repopulated the world in that short of time, (about 4,362 years). Note: Many conservative Christians believe that the flood occurred circa 2349 BCE
Two: According to the bible the Jews were called to be the "Chosen Race" who was distinct and separate from all others. If only Noah's' family survived, then again the whole human race is of Jewish descent, which contradicts the bible history, not just that but propagated from incestuous couplings of one family, which again is genetically immoral and unbiblical.
Three; According to the NY Times there are estimates of 7.7 million species of animals. The idea the one ark could even a part of all the species is sheer imagination considering there is now that there are more than 100 000 000 000 (billion) living animals on earth today.
(Http: //wiki.answers. /Q/ How many animals are in this world)
The story is mythological narrative which is found all over the world. The Old Testament simply gives the Jewish version of a historical event using generalizations and supernatural exaggerations. www.mythicspiral.com

When those people on the other side of the flood live to almost 1000 years [ it could have been eternity if obey
God had been their rule ], and we on this side of the
flood and earthwide violence it wiped out at 4419 years
ago, when they were at year 1656. The protective water
sheild fell and that life sustaining earth was sacrificed.
Now to have such a short life full of troubles and the only
truth we know is that we will die as all born are born dying,
the sin that Jesus died to take away, and God tells us he
is resting from creating [ so far the time above ], but there
will be a new heavens and a new earth and all born dying will be made alive, by the end of Jesus 1000 year reign.
As I look at the shape of the earth and know it is a raging
planet, yes, I have to believe that Noah and his family of
eight people, was lifted up near the dead sea to float a
year and land on Mt. Ararat near the Black sea.
So why didn't he burn them in the religion hell fire forever?
Is that a myth or for real? There is many places where
people are destroyed in a variety of ways in the bible.Source(s): Bible.

Actually you are mistaken The fact that Jesus lived and was crucified, also that His followers believe He did miracles and was raised form the dead has been undeniably proven through the historic record of secular historians from that time it is also provable that His follower continued in His teachings after He was gone and refused to deny Him even in the face of death. That is fact. Anyone who denies it is either ignoring the historical record or simply ignorant of it.
As for the flood there are legends of a small group of people surviving a massive flood in almost every culture in the world, there are sea shells found on the highest Mountain tops and the villages around the base of Mount Ararat have names such as landing place of Noah. The there is the fact that when ever you find these mass dinosaur bone deposits they always say it's in an ancient river bed, Why because there is evidence of water flow. Think about it, when an animal of any kind dies its body is scavenged and what is left decomposes. In order to a fossil to be made it has to be buried in sediment to in case it and protect it from the air and scavengers of all sizes until it has fossilized. Only certain situations can even create a single fossil yet they find these mass dinosaur graves, what do they think they all committed dinocide by jumping together into a sediment river, regular water wont do it or we would be creating new ones all the time.....speaking of, why do we never find half fossilized creatures from newer ages? Because all the fossils were created at the same time when the vapor canopy fell and the water of the earth rapidly over took every living thing. It makes sense the smaller less mobile things would be buried first and the larger animals who could swim and fight would die last and be buried in higher levels. As they died the currents carried them along to be dumped in the dinosaur graves are paleontologists delight in finding today!
As for the vapor canopy scientist know there used to be one that the whole earth used to have tropical climate and for some reason the canopy fell, the climate changed and the dinosaurs died. They don't know why, but the flood explains it perfectly. Conclusive proof....maybe not but certainly not a demonstratable myth!

Jesus lived. Be quite sure of that.
Noah, ok that might have been borrowed from other works around at the time. It is merely a morality lesson which many of the stories in the Bible are. There are only a few fundamentalists around that say the Bible has to be taken literally word for word. Not every Christian or Jew believe that.
Atheists make a big deal out of a few well intentioned but basically misguided religious people. We're not all gullible.

Yes, but when a magical deity is involved, all the rules of science go out the window.
My argument would be simple. If the planet is covered in water, the water would force the atmosphere into space as it displaced the areas the atmosphere formerly took up. Naturally, the lighter gasses would boil off first, and we would see evidence of the changed ratio of atmospheric gasses in ice core samples taken from the period of time when Noah's ark supposedly happened. There is no such evidence of any major atmospheric changes in the last 6000 years.

It's easily demonstrated to be a fairytale. Gathering two of every animal, feeding them, and cleaning up after them is not possible. From every type of bug (millions) to every type of fish or mammal, the project would be impossible. Maybe it's a myth based on an ancient time of flooding but the story is just a story.

Noahs ark is found for sure. Watch the entire clip. Heaps of evidence.
Its a fantastic clip all comments agree.
As for proof in the earths surface.
The geologic column with petrofied trees proves it.
The layers fall in the order, a shaken up bottle with different soil layers fall too.
Anyway the utube clip is great!!!
