People swap the words "racism" and "prejudice" around like they mean the same thing. Racism means you think your race or a certain race is above all others. Prejudice means an opinion formed without thought or evidence. Clearly liberals are prejudiced and not racist, lol. The word "racism" should not be tossed around as lightly as it is.
I agree with you though. For a political party that's supposed to be striving to make our society color-blind, they sure do put a lot of emphasis on skin pigment.
When I fill out a document, form or application, I always leave the "race" question blank. They can't make me do it by law and it's none of their business. I should be considered for a loan/job/other by the merits of my accomplishments, not by the color of my skin. I'm not a percentage point to help someone fill a quota. I'm a person, and if I'm good enough to get a job, then skin doesn't matter. If I'm not approved for a loan or don't get a job, at least I know I tried my best and I can work harder to make myself more competitive the next time around.
I had a friend who was a firefighter and graduated from training with a black friend of his. His friend, who passed and qualified, didn't perform as well and even struggled through certain parts of the training curriculum. My friend did much better. Upon graduation, they both applied for a job at a fire department, but his black friend was hired based on his race instead of my friend, despite his higher scores. Now there's a less qualified firefighter running around Maryland, someone who is less qualified to save your life than a classmate of his, but who got the job because he's black. He's responsible for the lives of his coworkers and the citizens in his jurisdiction, and he wasn't even the best man for the job. That puts lives at risk. That's dangerous. Is that fair? I don't think so, but that's Affirmative Action.
A wiser man than me once said, "Liberals are crazy. They want to cut your leg off so they can lend you a crutch."
I bet I get a lot of thumbs down for this.
