Brown v. BOE brought on the Civil Rights movement of the 1960's. I think Brown v. BOE was decided in 1954, and it finally recognized that "separate but equal" was a fraud. Blacks didn't have good school - and segregation of the races stinks. First show-down I remember was in LIttle Rock, Arkansas when Eisenhower sent in the 101st Airborne to make sure blacks went to the same schools as whites.
So anyway it really did begin the entire desegregation thing which should have been done after the Civil War but unfortunately Lincoln got shot and Reconstruction came to a halt.
Anything which is fair - anything which leads to the greatest freedom of the American people makes the country stronger.
