G = guanine, a purine base in RNA.
A = adenine, a purine base in RNA
C = cytosine, a pyrimidine base in RNA
U = uracil, a pyrimidine base in RNA
The sequence of these bases in the messenger RNA determines the order in which amino acids are joined together at the ribosome in translation when proteins are made.
