I'm 1/4 black and 3/4 random other including various European countries and some Native American, and I've often wondered and pondered why if race doesn't matter why certain groups make it matter. For instance, Obama.. So desperately have minorities tried to make the color of their skin mean nothing, that we are the same as those who are white, ect. But, then we get a 1/2 black man running for, and is, president, and now.. color matters? I think they need to make up there mind. Is their skin color going to mean nothing or something? And, more along the lines of this question, I believe that certain people in the past wanted to make minorities a more "real" thing, something people could touch, feel, and understand, where in the past, they didn't or couldn't. It's not hard to see a white person walking around, depending on where you are. I currently live just outside DC, and it's somewhat difficult to see anyone that's white unless you are on a military base here. But, I think that it was so people were aware that they were here to stand up for themselves, when white people didn't necessarily have that problem. I hope this helps? Or gives some insight?
Being a mixed girl in an all white high school. And yes, I was picked on left and right since my skin was darker than all the other white girls.. but now they go tanning and are HUGE hypocrits..
