Is snopes.com a valid website? Would it be appropriate to cite from it?

How can I know for sure? What are other good ways of finding truths?

Sorry I know that's 4 questions, just answer what you know please!

Snopes is an inappropriate source to cite because it is not a primary source. I personally love Snopes - it's a great way to quash exploitative emails sent by intellectually challenged friends and family. You can't disporve based on Snopes, but if you receive an email claiming facts mirrored in an urban legend already reported there, then you've got enough.

It can't be a cited source because you really need to cite to primary sources, and Snopes makes no pretensions of being one.
