"I forgot he was a Red Wing!"?
Every now and then when poring over recent rosters, even for the Cup-winning teams, I look at the team and think "Oh yeah, that guy played for the Red Wings." It's either legitimate NHL regulars or guys the Wings have given a second chance.
I also always think it's strange to think of Ulf Samuelsson, Wendel Clark, and Derian Hatcher in Wings jerseys, even though I remember it pretty clearly.
I could go on... Any others come to mind for your team?
"Any others come to mind for YOUR team"....you guys don't have to only name former Wings player although I am getting good answers.

Thomas Sandstrom was apart of 97 cup winner I think
Others
Jamie Macoun ended is career there
Bill Ranford played a few games there in 99
Bob Essensa in early 90's played part of a season there
Allan Bester( long time leaf) played a few games there
They seem to have had a habit of picking up insurance policy goalies at the deadline
And finally since is jersey was retired by the rangers last night, Adam Graves who started out in Det.
Edit: I mis read the question and went with Wings

Yeah, Clark was brought to Detroit at 99 trade deadline, Hatcher played for Detroit in the 2003-04 season, Sanstrom won the cup in '97 with the club and Samuelsson played for the team in the 90's so the Wings have got a lot of history. Hopefully we can win in 2009!!!

Wendel Clark always comes to mind, I have a poster of him on the Wings and I still can't believe it. Even Dallas Drake. Especially Derian Hatcher, I always feel sorry for the guy, always wanted to be a wing, 4 games in, season ending knee injury and then its the lockout year.

Uwe Krupp was an injured Red Wing for years. That was a waste.
How about Mike Knuble? Drafted and played two years with the Wings (the years the Wings had back to back Cup wins).

Not a popular guy....but I always picture Ed Giacomin in a Rangers jersey. Tiger Williams......I forgot he played for the Wings.
Seeing Wendel Clark in a Bolts jersey....now that is funny.

Oops sorry, was I supposed to think of Detroit guys? Forgot about Luc Robitaille until he mentioned it during the all-star festivities. Even Hull even though it wasn't that long ago.
How about Bob Probert as a Hawk?
Just kind of doesn't seem right with them being in those jerseys (like you said, even though we remember it)
