What are your favorite Hip-Hop songs/artists?

No, don't tell me "You're in the wrong section you retard!"

I'm not.

I want to see some of our favorite Hip-Hop songs/artists of some of the people here in the Rock and Pop section.

Here are my four favorite artists and my favorite song by each:

"The Message" - Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five

"Rapper's Delight" - Sugar Hill Gang

"Feel Good Inc" - Gorillaz

"Fight For Your Right" - Beastie Boys

I like the really early stuff. Mainly '79-'86.

Update 2:

Cathrerine P: That isn't very open minded of you to say. Rapping is hard to do. I couldn't do it if my life depended on it.

Plus, I'm caucasian (just kidding, kind of)

"Fight For Your Right" is an interesting Beasties choice. It's hilarious, but I would have gone with "High Plains Drifter", or "Egg Man" or maybe "Rhymin' and Stealin'."

My favorite RHH artist is OutKast (though I also love the non rap on The Love Below.) My favorite song of theirs is probably "B.O.B.".

I also love Kool Keith, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Run-D.M.C., Eric B and Rakim, Boogie Down Productions, Public Enemy...

    Nice choice, Weekapag.

Have you listened to Fear of a Black Planet, Sal? I heard it just about a week ago, and I thought it was much better than Nation of Millions, which is saying something.

I can already feel the grief i'm gonna get for this but whatever i don't care man

The only Hip Hop that i still enjoy the hell out of is

    Bone Thugs N Harmony

    Tech N9ne

pretty much after that no rap for me its not that i dont like Rap but it got way too overrated by MTV,Radio,Kids, etc.

And for anybody who wants to joke about me liking ICP if you want a reason stop getting your b*tchy fingers ready and listen(technically read but whatever...) Okay the reason why is because i listened to ICP since i was 4 yrs old and raised by ninjas, juggalos, and Jugallettes so i became accustomed to the clown life style i dont care if anyones gonna rag its okay im pretty high so......yeah later

Source(s): Who ever here deosnt hate ICP then mmfwcl also there was this keyboard thing i could do to spell WC but that would take forever so later

I also like Grandmaster Flash (White Lines) and Sugar Hill Gang.

I never know which category bands/artists fall in...but, I really like Coolio and I think he may be a rap/hip-hop mix.

    Dr. Octagon - Earth People

    Youtube thumbnail

    The Roots - the Seec v. 2.0

    Youtube thumbnail

Mos Def - Sex Love and Money

    Youtube thumbnail

Jurassic 5 - Concrete Schoolyard, or Break

(that's weird, no good youtubes for that. they used to have a concrete schoolyard video, oh well)

Have you heard Mos Def sing Catherine? He sings quite well. Have you heard some of the harmonizing that Jurassic 5 does? It's kind of silly to say as a blanket statement that hip hop artists just can't sing.
