How can i stop my Xbox 360 controller from causing the BSoD(Blue screen of Death) on Windows Vista?!?

everytime i plug in my Xbox 360 controller, it restarts my computer and the BSoD shows up. now, this has never happened(on my computer, Windows Vista) and the controller was working fine when i bought it and started using it about 4 months ago(and i have also had another xbox 360 controller that was problem free). How can i solve this problem of my 360 controller from causing the BSoD on my windows vista? I only have this problem when i plug this particular controller in(though it will read and work after the BSoD restarts my computer if i leave it in)

Maybe your controller isn't working properly. get another one and try. If it works ok like the first one , you just get rid of that one.
