Where exactly is the Ohio Valley?

These weather forecasters always mention the Ohio Valley in their reports, but what area is the Ohio Valley exactly?

    The Ohio River itself begins at Pittsburgh, PA. Its headwaters stretch into New York via the Allegheny River and West Virginia via the Monongahela and Youghiogheny Rivers.

    The Ohio forms the southern borders of Ohio, Indiana and Illinois, and the northern borders of West Virginia and Kentucky.

    It is the valley that the Ohio River drains---from the border of Ohio with West Virginia to the Mississippi River.
