The orders came just two days after Mister Obama was sworn-in as president in front of the largest crowd ever in Washington, D.C. Media reports say up to one million eight hundred thousand people attended the presidential inauguration Tuesday.

....in front of the largest crowd ever in Washington.....

=======================================================

"To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict, or blame their society's ills on the West – know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy. To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history, but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist."

Update:

one million eight hundred thousand people

是指

(one million) (eight hundred thousand ) people還是

(one million eight hundred) thousand people

Update 2:

you are on the wrong side of history是什麼意思???

同義片語還有 call to testify, put on the witness stand, put upon oath 等等,

    swear in 的被動式為 be sworn-in.

    所以變成 was sworn-in.

    2. crowd

those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict, or blame their society's ills on the West 和

those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and silencing of dissent 發話.

your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy 和

you are on the wrong side of history, but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist
