Use a very large pot with plenty of water. The reason why pasta sticks to the bottom is because the starches given off by the pasta during boiling sink to the bottom causing the noodles to stick to anything, even metal. Also, you may want to try stirring more often to get the starches to distribute more evenly. Putting salt in the water will effectively raise the boiling temp. of the water, but, it really won't affect the quality of the noodles themselves nor will it keep them from sticking together. Also, adding oil to the water to keep the noodles from sticking together and the subsequent effect of keeping the sauce from sticking to them are myths as well. The oil being less dense than the water will remain primarily on top and not distribute through the water. Alsom being on the top of the boil it will pour off first preventing it from doing much of anything at all to the noodles. If anything, adding a small amount of canola oil to the water keeps it from foaming, but, not much (just don't waste your time with it at all).
