    Acer macrophyllum commonly called Bigleaf Maple or Oregon Maple can be found growing from Central California up through Canada and the Western portion of North America. Its not a tree for use in the average yard but rather for estate, large yards or parks in my opinion. But when grown correctly it is an impressive tree.     If you used the actual tree name you might get an answer. I know a few hundred trees and haven't heard of "bigleaf maples" If you mean plane trees (which leaves look like huge maple leaves, then the northern US is my answer.
