According to my dictionary, literary mostly describes the type of writing used with creative literature or story telling.

    The dictionary says

literary- "Of or relating to litearature"

literature- " Imaginitive or creative writing."

another definition of literature is a body of work in a certain field like medical literature, but no one speaks about medical journals as being literary works of art. The term is usually associated with fictional works of art. At least that is my best guess.

I would say most non-fiction books fall into a the non-literary text category. I would say all or most autobiographies are non literary but there are other things which fall into the category of non literary text like the medical journals above.

Also literary text could be any work of creative (or not so creative) fiction regardless if its in first, third or whatever.

Some examples of literary works would be Shakespear, or Stephen King novels.

Tetbooks are non literary although the may have literary examples in them.

Medical journals and newspapers, for the most part are non literary.

Ok i'll quit. I hope this helps you find the right answer.

Oh yea in college we had a literary magazine filled with creative stories and art by students.
