What duties do you do in this current job?
My current job profile is to handle Technical problems related to hardware & networking. It includes Operating System installation, application installation ( and configuration) plus network troubleshooting in windows active directory environment.
What are your responsibilities for your current job?
My responsibilities includes to handle issues related to operating System (windows and linux), issues related to network ( client-server connectivity and security in Active Directory Environment) and issues related to Application software. Apart from this my responsibilities include to configure IIS server and APACHE web server for testing web-sites.
What kind of training was required or favored for someone in your current position?
This job requires good command over windows Operating System and familiar knowledge of Linux environment as well. Also my job requires to have a good knowledge of networking. Personally I have done " Diploma in computer science and Engineering" that was of 3 years of duration, I learn t lot of things during "On job training period". Now I should say that person who has completed "MCSE + CCNA" with lot of experience would be able to handle the job.
What about this position do you find the most fitted to your personality?
Yes the position I have got completely matches with my personality. I really like to Troubleshoot technical issues, i.e. I have got a job that matches with my hobbies, so i enjoy to work.
What made you apply for this position?
My Knowledge and good command over Windows Servers made this possible to apply for this job. Apart from this I like to keep on learning, i.e. in my free time i like to gain my knowledge from various sources.
Were there other positions you were interested in at the time of applying for this position?
No, not really. This is because that I applied only for selective positions, that best define my profile. In reality we have to apply our knowledge to practical jobs, this would only be possible if we have got good command over subject.
What equipment do you use on the job?
MY equipments/tools consists of software and hardware as follows:
Hardware: Screw-driver set, multi-meter, crimping tool(networking tool), Extra set of computer parts.
Software: OS installation disks, anti-virus, RAM diagnostic software.
And my knowledge and experience.
And what kind of software do you use on the job?
My software includes working on mail client (EUDORA and outlook express), IIS, APACHE, Adobe Photo shop, DREAM VIEWER, HOT METAL PRO, Microsoft Office, and firewalls.
What are your expectations of the college and or your supervisors?
My supervisors would like to see me perfect in every respect. i.e I should be able to handle any situation, either it is new or repeated. So I personally try to be updated with practical world.
How do you keep up to date with the latest technology?
I spent my free time on internet, and that is the best source to be updated. Also I always keep in touch with my friend circle, a lot of knowledge I gain from them. Also we generally discuss "hard technical times" we face and their possible solutions with each other.
What approach do you take in getting people to accept you ideas or goals?
Personally I think that people accept my ideas and goals if:
1. Ideas are based on facts.
2. They are achievable.
3. They are helpful for increasing productivity/security.
4. Try to gave them demo if possible.
Can you give an example of your ability to manage or supervise others?
I am working in this company for last two years. We have got 65 computers here. Now I am the only technical person and try to
manage any kind of issue, either related to windows, linux, networking, printer and software as well.
What are some personality characteristics you find undesirable in people?
People have got distinct personalities, It is totally the way how we see them. We might find something undesirable in them but someone else may find it pleasant. So Personally I don't want to have any comments on it.
What do you like most about your present position, and what do you like least about your present position?
I have got a job that resembles my hobbies, so i enjoy it a lot. Sometimes I have to face some tough and challenging situations ( like virus attack on multiple computers simultaneously or multiple user loin failure etc.), and that is the most liking part of my job.
What methods do you use to troubleshoot networking problems?
When a network problem arises, first of all I concentrate on symptoms.
The problem could arise due to hardware failure ( like cable fault, loose connections or network card failure)
The problem could also arise due to software malfunctioning ( like corrupt device driver, corrupt or improper firewall settings, Wrong authentication, wrong duplex settings etc.)
So it is important to understand the cause of fault so that we can take action
