Why do people have to use fake and forged texts to criticize Israel?

Oh say, for example this:

Sanhedrin 57a . A Jew need not pay a gentile ("Cuthean") the wages owed him for work.

As well as a bunch of "Talmud Exposed" websites.

And this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Protocols_of_the_...

Update:

Real passage:

Sanhedrin 7a. More on the value of compromise, and when compromise is appropriate. We also find exegesis of biblical verses, and several instances in which popular sayings are supported by rabbinic exegesis.

Update 2:

Why would there be a real Sanhedrin 57a if people forge them?

Of course sprinkling truth on lies is always effective but..

This was largely started to try and spur on Christian anti-semitism. Allegations of the Talmud bragging of killing Jesus and stuff are all over the internet on fake websites.

My favorite commonly quoted one is:

Erubin 21b. Whosoever disobeys the rabbis

deserves death and will be punished by being boiled in hot excrement in

    hell.

Meanwhile the real one is Erubin 21b : "My son, be more careful in

the observance of the words of the Scribes than in the words of the

    Torah (Old Testament)."

Not many educated people care about this or have the time on their hands to go explaining this to everyone, but any intelligent person can recognize them as a hoax.

Palestinian and other Arab leaders routinely use their media outlets to spread outrageous libels against Israel and the Jews to inflame their populations. Palestinians have become masters of the technique perfected by Adolf Hitler known as the “big lie.” As Hitler explained in Mein Kampf:

The size of a lie is a definite factor in causing it to be believed, for the vast masses of a nation are in the depths of their hearts more easily deceived than consciously and intentionally bad. The primitive simplicity of their minds renders them a more easy prey to a big lie than a small one, for they themselves often tell little lies but would be ashamed to tell big ones. The Palestinians also regularly try to inflame the Muslim world by falsely claiming the Jews are going to blow up the Temple Mount or the al-Aksa Mosque. For example, on September 29, 2000, the Voice of Palestine, the PA's official radio station sent out calls "to all Palestinians to come and defend the al-Aksa mosque." This was the day after Ariel Sharon’s visit to the Temple Mount, and the subsequent riots marked the unofficial beginning of the latest uprising.

More recently, the Palestinian Authority TV “Message to the World” broadcast announced: “The Zionist criminals are planning to destroy the al-Aqsa mosque on the ground that they they are searching for the Holy Temple, which they falsely claim is under the mosque.”18

One of the most outrageous lies circulated throughout the Middle East was that 4,000 Israelis did not report to work on September 11, or "called in sick" that morning because they knew an attack was coming. Israel and the Mossad are also said to be responsible for the atrocities. Of course, this was also a lie, but it is the type of conspiracy theory that is widely believed by Arabs who maintain the forgery, the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, is factual.

I can go on and on...

    Here's a few:

"We would send a tractor to plow some area where it wasn't possible to do anything, in the demilitarized area, and knew in advance that the Syrians would start to shoot. If they didn't shoot, we would tell the tractor to advance further, until in the end the Syrians would get annoyed and shoot ... And then we would use artillery and later the air force also, and that's how it was...The Syrians, on the fourth day of the war, were not a threat to us."- Moshe Dayan, the Defense Minister who gave the order to conquer the Golan Heights, quoted from the NY Times, May 11, 1997.

"In June 1967, we again had a choice. The Egyptian Army concentrations in the Sinai approaches do not prove that Nasser was really about to attack us. We must be honest with ourselves. We decided to attack him." Menahem Begin (from "The Fateful Triangle", Noam Chomsky)

"I do not think Nasser wanted war. The two divisions he sent to The Sinai would not have been sufficient to launch an offensive war. He knew it and we knew it."- Yitzhak Rabin (Israel's Chief of Staff during the Six Day War), February 28, 1968

Since when do people need forged texts or otherwise to condemn Israel and hate the Jews? People tend to believe what they read (see "The Protocols of Zion", which is total fabrication), but it is believed to be true by many people and hence it is used to further anti-semistism. "The bigger the lie, the more people will believed it." by Joseph Goebbels.

Can you point us to a real copy of Sanhedrin 57a so we can decide for ourself?

I can't see Sanhedrin 57a on your list and you are now quoting sanhedrin 7?

'With respect to robbery — if one stole or robbed or [seized] a beautiful woman, or [committed] similar offences if [these were perpetrated] by one Cuthean33 against another, [the theft, etc.] must not be kept, and likewise [the theft] of an Israelite by a Cuthean, but that of a Cuthean by an Israelite may be retained'?

For murder, whether of a Cuthean by a Cuthean, or of an Israelite by a Cuthean, punishment is incurred; but of a Cuthean by an Israelite, there is no death penalty'

Surely this site must be a forgery. I am shocked and disgusted Judaism is being discredited in such a way.

It applies to the withholding of a labourer's wage.44 One Cuthean from another, or a Cuthean from an Israelite is forbidden, but an Israelite from a Cuthean is permitted

'Cuthean' (Samaritan) was here substituted by the censor for the original goy (heathen).

Please put us right to show these are racially based fabrications against your fine religion.

    (b) Second, the Torah commands, "Lo Sa'ashok Sachir Ani v'Evyon me'Achecha O mi'Gercha Asher b'Artzecha bi'Sh'arecha. B'Yomo Siten Secharo v'Lo Savo Alav ha'Shemesh, Ki Ani Hu, v'Elav Hu Nosei Es Nafsho; v'Lo Yikra Alecha El HaSh-m, v'Hayah Vecha Chet" - "You shall not defraud the wages of a poor or destitute hired worker who is your brother or a convert living in your land within your gates. On his day you shall give him his wages, and you shall not let the sun set on him waiting, for he is poor, and on it his life depends; he should not have to cry out against you to HaSh-m and cause you to have a sin" (Devarim 24:14-15).

So - don't defraud 'brother or a convert' but goys are fair game?

Who is behind this conspiracy of monstrous lies to blacken the name of Judaism? That last one comes from an Isreali web site - is that a clue?

    EDIT

I am calling you out. Todd. First you allege people use fake and forged texts to criticize Israel but then you give as an example a real quote from your own Talmud. Then you try to weasel your way out by quoting a completely different passage.

Let us look at the passage you first quote "A Jew need not pay a gentile ("Cuthean") the wages owed him for work." or as I found "You shall not defraud the wages of a poor or destitute hired worker who is your brother or a convert living in your land within your gates.". To refuse to pay a day labourer, you would negotiate his wages knowing you have no intention of paying. At the end of the day, you would refuse what was rightfuly owing to him, even knowing that as a poor man, his family may not be fed. I would call that scheming malice, deceit, fraud, and outright lies. And YOUR Holy Book condones it - as long as the cheated man is not Jewish.

This fits in well with what is happening now in Israel. Bogus claims of victimhood, deceit and outright lies characterise the Israeli attack on Gaza.

No one has to use fake and forged texts to criticize Israel. A picture says a thousand words. There are many pictures of dead babies. No text is necessary.
