Carried concealed M1911 for years (****** and locked), then Colt Commander (shorter slide) with a Smith backup 38. Good caliber for protection is 45 ACP; the 9MM just doesn't always hack it.Source(s): executive protection

Depends on your build and clothing options.
The 1911 is a thin gun, so it can be easier to conceal in some cases than a glock.Source(s): 8+ years Law Enforcement
