If your pets died in UK, how do you dispose of it?

Back home we used to bury our dead pets in our front or back yard. But i'm in UK now and in the city centre, our houses don't have lawns. What is the guidelines of disposing dead pets? I'm asking this because a friend's friend's rabbit died and they decided to turn it into rabbit stew. I find the notion of eating your own pets disgusting but then the question came up on how to best dispose of your pets.

and no, I do not have a car so i can't bury it in a random farm.
Update: Wouldn't pet cemeteries cost a bomb?
