In Canada, it's legal....Canadians pay a special tax on blank CDs/DVDs/tapes/etc......look at it this way, corporations thieve off of you and me. I recently purchased a USB stick adapter off the internet for about a $1.00 from China....same adapter here from a retail store costs between $15 to $30. Almost everything is made in China...corporations make it there, then sell it here for ridiculous sums of money. It costs PENNIES to make over there.......so who is thieving who???
I've lost about 30K in the stock market....no one has come to give back what I have lost, yet some corporations got freebies from the government (taxpayers' money)......again, who is thieving who???
Hollywood, the media and the music industry have helped to create a generation of rebellious and immoral people.....shunning anything that is righteous/honorable and promoting angst, anger, violence, vulgarity, sexualizing the youth, pornography, etc.......all in an attempt to generate as much $$$ as possible by exploiting the lowest forms of human depravity and weaknesses. Money over morals. While claiming that they (the corporations) are "losing money" because of "piracy", they say that the artists are being robbed....yeah, by the record companies and NOT the fans. It's all about greed....one day soon, because of social networking sites and other internet/internet radio/satellite tools, record companies will become obsolete. A CD/DVD and its packaging costs pennies to make but they inflate the prices to ridiculous sums and then cry about it when people decide not to buy it from them. And downloading songs for $1.00 etc.....no packaging, no CD, no booklet, no warehouse, etc.......just some server somewhere allowing people to download some digital 0s and 1s...and they charge you an inflated sum for that too......so again, who is thieving who??
Anyways, music and movies suck these days...I play video games instead. :) And even those are expensive.
