How can I get my Firefox address bar to go straight to a website without typing .com?

My Firefox address bar used to go directly to websites without typing in .com but now it goes to ask.com. How can i get it back to the way it was?

Type in what you want then hold the control key down and hit enter and it will fill in the www and the .com

This only works for a .com not for anything else.

In newer versions of Firefox, the address bar will default to a regular Google search instead of an "I'm feeling lucky" search.

Sounds as if you somehow changed it to an Ask.com search.

That can all be changed by tweaking about:config

i think that the extension is a very important step in completing a url

I can't believe the world wants things easier and less complicated. Back in the old days you were supposed to type in the complete address without any mistakes and there weren't any search engine available.

I don't think theres any options to change what i does.

I know what you mean though, I type in "eBay UK" for ebay, and it takes me to it.

I think you may just have to put in a bit more info.
