refrain from touching it or moving it at all. If you feel a stinging sensation in the bone, you might want to get it x-rayed to make sure you didn't break/fracture it. Otherwise, the best advice I can give you is to keep putting ice on it in 30 min-1 hr intervals; no more than 30 min with ice, and up to an hour without it.(You can get frostbite if you don't allow the blood flow to fully return to your finger by removing the ice). Take some Tylenol or something to ease the pain, and hopefully it will heal alright! But if I were you, I would still see the doctor about it. Oh yeah; don't go to the Emergency Room, because they will not specialize in something like this. I went there once with an ingrown toenail that got infected, and all they did was give one painful shot to numb it, then made a small incision to "drain" it....I felt the whole thing. My pediatrist later said that the ER isn't reliable and half the time they don't seem to help.
