Why is The Dark Knight considered such a great movie?

The critics, including Roger Ebert who gave it 4 stars, believed the movie was worthy of an "A." Do you agree with this crap?

Christopher Nolan took a comic book and turned the Joker as a terrorist like 9/11. And talks about what terrorism is. And also the story of Two/Face-Harvey Dent is quite a modern day Hamlet.

Obviously because of Heath Ledger's performance...but more important it took characters from a comic book, translated them to film in a way that made you believe that these events could happen.

A "comic book" film is not supposed to do that.. that's the genius of the director, actors... etc. And the critics couldn't ignore this...they're used to dealing w/ serious works, and along comes this film. They had to give it it's due.
