Compare the Differences between Students’ Lives in High School and College

When it comes to a student’s college life, many people would think that it is a place where the students only want to have a good time. But it’s not really true. Students’ college lives involve higher education that should be taken as serious as those in high school. Nevertheless they have had great differences on many aspects. One way to distinguish those differences between college life and high school life would be to compare them on some important issues.

One issue, among others, is lodging. College students come from everywhere around Taiwan and the distance between the student’s home and his/her school could be too far for them to commune in one day. So, they have to find a suitable place to stay when they’re studying in school. It’d mean they have to live in college dorms or rent an apartment outside the campus. On the contrary, most high school students are commuters. The distance between their school and home is probably not as far as that for most college students. So they have to take buses or trains to reach the school.

Other differences between a student’s high school life and college life would involve the issue of taking courses and arranging class schedule each week. As a high school student, he/her normally doesn’t have to think about the class schedule each week, which is already fixed up by the school. On the contrary, a college student need to take care of taking which courses solely on his won term. And if the student knew which teachers are treating students very badly, he or she may not like to take that teacher’s courses as well.

The final difference in my analysis involves where to eat the meals for each school day. As a high school student, he brings his lunch box to school to steam or order the meal from outside of the school like fast food.

Most high school students will feel unsavory on lunch box for a long time after they graduated from high school, though the lunch box prepared by his mother would be considered healthier than eating those fast food.

However, college students can choose various foods from the cafeteria, and as free as a bird, go outside to buy whatever they’d like to eat.

Sometimes, the school will hold various campus events and the students in the school not only can buy a lot of foods and drinks but also eat various scrumptious stuff. They’ve got a variety of choices when they want to change their diet.

    2008-12-19 14:54:04 補充:

In the final analysis, I feel students’ high school lives and college lives differ in many aspects such as lodging versus commuter, fixed schedule of classes versus taking courses on their own terms, and limited food choices versus a variety of food to choose from in their diet.

    2008-12-19 14:54:16 補充:

There are, indeed, the advantages and disadvantages, compared to each other.

    2008-12-19 14:54:29 補充:

For example, college students would have to think about what to eat everyday, whereas high school students don’t worry that much. But high school students have to wake up early to catch the bus or MRT, while college students can sleep well before the class begins.

So, next time, when someone asks this question – “Which life is better, high school’s or college’s?.” One should answer, ’’Hard to decide. They’re so different in many aspects”.

訂正: 第三段的"Other differences between a student’s high school life and college life would involve the issue of taking courses and arranging class schedule each week."
