*** These games failed to get mentioned in the movie 'Miracle'
Canada played 3 games against NHL competition and failed to score a goal losing 2-0 and 5-0 to Vancouver, and 4-0 to Winnipeg.
Re: Donald Spring
The Canadian Olympic Committee claims he was born in Canada (as per U of A records)
The NHL records list him as being born in Venezuela (and considering they have John Tonelli listed incorrectly, I have no reason to assume that Spring's birthplace is correct)
I talked to him about 15 years ago and he refuses to acknowledge where he was born.

The squad played the U.S a few times in Exhibition and beat them soundly leading up to the Olympics (someone told me this or I read it somewhere).
Perhaps Cyren can confirm or deny.
Remember, all of Canada's best were playing in the NHL. Imagine the team they could have had on the ice.

Why should we care when we get to see all your best players play on a daily basis in the NHL which if I remember correctly is mostly in the USA. Thats right I get to watch Marty Brodeur every game. Oh and how about the Final in the Juniors Championship?

Good input cyrenaka .. seems Dr. Gregg and Andy got their share of hardware while on the Oilers to make up for the 6th place finish.
And a slight correction - Don Spring was born in Venezuela (as you kinda mentioned, Paul MacLean was born in France)
