Read Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. First book is Eragon.

You might like it. People who influenced him were Garth Nix, Tolkien, Phillip Pullman, etc.

So I know it seems like a big fad right now, and I was originally skeptical to read these two books right away because I didn't want to seem like I was a follower, but Angels and Demons and The DaVinci Code are excellent books. If you choose to read these, read Angels and Demons first.

I share a lot of your favorite authors.
