In John vision what caused a third of the Rivers on earth to become bitter?

Update:

I did not look at the Computer screen

when I put this question in.

Update 2:

Revelation 8 :10-11

10 And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;

11 And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.

    Are you speaking of The Book of Revelation, Chapter 8:

    "The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled down upon the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.

    The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood, a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.

    The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water— the name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.

    The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night. "

    It is apparent that the earth is going to be bombarded by a massive meteor shower ("hail and fire"), and then hit by TWO meteors. The first will land in the ocean, destroying much sea life, and the second, Wormwood, seems to hit land, throwing up a hug cloud of dust that will poison the rivers and lakes. In fact, the term "Wormwood" itself refers to something poisonous.

    The resulting dust and steam will cause a cloud cover that will reduced the amount of sunlight (and moonlight, and starlight) reaching the earth by 1/3. This will, of course, cause a massive cooling of the earth, and the dimmer stars will seem to disappear.

    WHEN this will happen is unknown, but it IS a sign of the End of Time, just before the earth is completely destroyed.
