so you know how motherboards have chipsets and processors have chipsets do they have to match for them to work?

    The vendor(manufacturer) of the board matches them so that the north bridge and south bridge work with the processor socket yes. They are all Integrated into the PCB so that they communicate in the right fashion(best performance). In the future I believe all chipsets will be integrated on the die of the processor thus eliminating long transfer times from one to the other.

    Motherboard chipset lingo varies from AMD to Intel and thus farther on down the line to include which features this specific chipset has that the motherboard will utilize.
