no he died his hair for the part... and he put a lot of gel and hairspray in it to make it look crunchy and stiff, etc.
if you look at pix from hsm2 his hair is darker than it is in hsm1 becuase they shot that after hairspray when his hair was died black.

No, I watched the special features thing on the DVD and the hair stylist said he just got it cut and dyed dark brown.

No way, he has really thick beautiful hair naturally. They just used a lot of hair products to get it into that shape for the movie.
