Why are the Democrats that were against the helping of the banks, FOR helping the Big 3?
They say it is for the workers this time. Well what about all those workers at the banks? Did they not care about them? What is the difference?

The textile industry does not have 1 in 10 jobs in the US today. Textiles do not have a national security balance like the auto industry whose engines power our tanks, and jets. Lets have Japan build our tank motors, that will make us more secure. Meanwhile the UAW has been willing in the contract last year to make changes, they have started to produce far more energy efficient cars so we are going to be capable of having cars that use less oil and make us less dependent on the middle east. Meanwhile the AIG bailout helped out people who make far more than those who work on the UAW lines, and just bailed out a few companies, and we are not giving them cash for free, it is a loan with 5% payouts annually. The situation is far different here than just the numbers you see, the workers on the assembly lines there are also 3 retired workers in terms of pension and medical care that they get when they were working for them after retirement, if you disagree with that then figure out a better way to do health care premiums down the lines.

The Big 3 is made up of Union workers. Union workers have been known to vote mainly democrat. Thus, if the Dems let the Big 3 go bankrupt, the unions will blame the Dems and not vote for them in the up coming elections. Not only that, but thousands of jobs are tied to the auto industry, and if the big 3 go under, the housing, banking, and all around economy would crash.

The workers at the banks tend not to be members of a union that donates heavily to Democrat political campaigns.
The Democratic party is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the United Auto Workers union.

The Democrats owe the UAW big time. This is payback time.
