Your question is a little vague, in that "filmmaking" involves so many different disciplines. Do you want to direct, produce, write, be the cameraman, etc? Filmmaking is a highly collaborative art and business that involves the contributions of hundreds of people who specialize in specific elements necessary to complete a project. So it isn't enough for you to say that you want to be involved in "filmmaking." You must figure out what specific aspect of filmmaking you want to concentrate on.

If illustration interests you, there are various aspects of the filmmaking process that may be a good fit for you. Production Design, Storyboard Artist, Matte Painter, Computer Graphics (Visual FX) are all areas that would be applicable to your interest in illustration.

What school is right for you depends upon a lot of things. First, of course, is the curriculum. Not every filmschool has a program that will help you with illustration. And not every school that does offer illustration classes will be something you can realistically go to for one reason or another.

So the best thing YOU can do is to first think about the kind of career and life you wish to build, and then look for schooling that will help you to achieve that goal. The most comprehensive worldwide list of filmschools is available at http://www.whatireallywanttodo.com. This list may or may not include the "best" schools that will teach you illustration. So what you need to do is research every school that you feel may have the best curriculum for you, and then contact that school with very specific questions regarding YOUR needs. You're the consumer when you pay for a school so you have to know that you will get what you need when you pay for the service.

I hesitate to recommend any specific program at all, but in this case, I will point you toward Art Center in Los Angeles. You can find the contact information at http://www.whatireallywanttodo.com. Click on the Filmschools link at the top and then "California." A number of very successful filmmakers and Directors have graduated from Art Center, so that may be the perfect choice for you. But only YOU can decide that.

    Good luck!
