What if self-replicating nanobots could not be turned off?
They are the future - but who's gonna control the little blighters? And what if it's Dr Evil?

There would be Nonobots built to build nanobots that would do a job. Those designed to do the job can’t replicate so even if they went wild they would soon wear out and quit working. And even if the nonobots that built the nanobots went wild they too would wear out and quit working. So as long as you don’t build a nonobot that replaces itself you don’t have to worry. And even if it could replace itself any mistake in building a copy would render it useless or given time they would die out.

I guess these "replicators" would take over the world.
