Yes. Most of the viruses can be easily remove with an anti-virus program.

    You can install Clamwin anti-virus.

ClamWin is a Free Antivirus for Microsoft Windows

that uses the GNU General Public License by the Free Software

    Foundation.

It can detect and remove more than 435,000 Trojans and viruses.

yes. but it still depends on the type of the virus. in some cases, the virus directly infects the operating system that the os has to be reinstalled.

it's difficult, nearly impossible, to clean an infected pc. bec even if you have cleaned the virus, the effects of what the virus did to your pc is difficult to know, to revert them back. thus most repair shops do a reformat and reinstall windows and all other apps, when you take your pc to them. this way, you'll spend less time, and you don't feel frustrated from all of those trial and errors.

it depends if the virus gets into the system it can cause untold damage freezing crashing and at the worst corrupt your computer,

i have had a trojan that has meant my whole operating system needed reinstalling and i did have anti virus

Possibly, sometimes it would have already infected your computer and there is nothing you can do, if its a keylogger it can be removed, but if its a virus to destroy your Bios, there may be a chance that the damage is already done.

i believe most of the case, yes.

depends on luck, if you're infected by strong virus, which can block anti virus, then you will be screwed.
