MANNERS EAST AND WEST
In India you should always eat with your right hand, never with your left.
In Japan slurping your soup is considered the very best of manners. And in China,it is perfectly acceptable to put bones and shells on the table or tablecloth. Social etiquette varies all over the world. What is good manners in one country is often considered impolite in another.
To us Chinese, for example, there is nothing wrong with talking loudly across the dinner table. In fact, the more noise the merrier. Westerners, however, consider it bad manners to make a lot of noise while esting. In China, burping at the end of a meal signifies your appreciation of a good dinner, but to the Westerner it is the height of bad manners. So is using a toothpick in front of others at the dinner table.
