    The first step is to move all the like terms to the same side of the equation:

    9b -5b =7+25

    The 5b becomes a negative -5b because we have moved it to the other side of the equation (a rule). The same thing happens when we move -7 to the right side of the equation (we have to change its sign) So we get

    9b-5b=7+25

    4b=32

    Now to solve for b we have to divide both sides by 4:

    4b/4=32/4

    b=8

    9b-7 = 5b + 25

    9b - 5b = 25 + 7

    4b = 32

    b = 8
