A lot! Is the server in a domain or a workgroup? What OS is on the existing one and do you have a fresh copy for the new server?

Either way you will need to be prepared to copy all the data (your customer won't be happy if you miss anything!) Usually its easiest to setup the new server on a new IP and then copy all the needed files and folders then switch the old IP to the new machine but it all depends on the network. If the system is in use while you do this be prepared to have major headaches. Do the change when the users aren't around or the network is not being used. Find out all there is to know about the network and what is on the existing file server before you start! Be sure to get all the permissions set correctly on the new server.
