What size file to use for Oregon chain?
I have two Oregon chains. One says 72 on the bottom, the other says 73. What size round file should I use to sharpen these? Thanks.
also, what angle should I file it at? thanks!

I bet It's a 7/32" round file that you'll need. That's what's in my chain hand sharpener.
My chain is an Oregon 70.
I bet there is no real difference in the cutters between yours and my chain.

Three basic sizes 3/8ths,7/32nds,5/16ths lay the file in the tooth should fit concave top to bottom of chain.I at times have sharpened my saws with a flat file, you want the top of the tooth to be sharp, not the side.Source(s): Logger for years
