    the book was intended to be a satire about the Russian Revolution and WWII.

    as such direct relationshgips with today are not easy but - there are still class distinctions and "bosses and workers" - pigs and the others

    i suppose you could also use the species differentation as an allusion to racial prejudices

    and the whole thing demonstrates that power corrupts
