why did george orwell use pigs to represent the oppressors in the story animal farm?

    I guess he feels that communists are best represented by pigs.

    Its the image people have given pigs. When you think of a pig (or when the average person thinks of a pig) they think of a dirty animal that will eat anything (literally, even its young). So he chose the domestic animal with the worse reputation.
