you have got the dreaded xp 2008/2009 virus.

get malwarebytes and use it now...

install it, update it, then run a full scan and delete all that it finds.

then go get a decent AV system.

Sounds like a malware infection, something such as Antivirus 2009 maybe.

Run a scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to be on the safe side:

This means you have a virus which i got the message from the lower left part of my start menu so what i did is installed superantispyware from download.com because they test it for spyware. Eventually thought i got to many viruses so i reformatted my PC using an XP cd which cleared my whole system.

There may be a good chance you have a virus. But make sure the antivirus you got is well compatible with your computer. some don't work as well as others. Anyways what computer do you have? It can vary.

Your PC was infected by a malware and it's easily removed by a free software Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Download it in it's site http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

    It resolved my problem.

You should not click on anything, that is a virus. It is trying to trick you into purchasing their anti-virus program so that it can get access to all your personal information. You need to purchase a legit service like Norton.
