Why is it so difficult finding a job when someone is over 40?

    Actually, today it is difficult for anyone to find a job.

    But, generally speaking.. Lots of reasons. Older people are going to require more time off work to go to doc apts or family emergencies. Older people are more likely to put their own life first rather than the job. Older people are more likely to cost the company more on the health benefits.

    Cause experience demands higher wages

    which is one of the main reasons our jobs

    have gone over seas, not to mention living

    in a society that values youth more than

    time tested wisdom, not that young people

    are stupid mind you, but older workers know

    the tricks of the trade if you will, and that

    doesn't sit well, with most employers . . .

    I don't think it's your age. I'm 28 and am having a hard time finding a job.

    the problem is that these are hard times. if you catch the news you'll notice a lot of business going under. stock crashing etc.
