What do periodicals contain besides articles?
Thanks both of you! Your answers were very helpful! I can't pick a best answer, so I'm putting it to vote.

arabesque never fails to provide valuable and reliable info. These sites she gave are very informative.
If you mean popular periodicals published for the general public, then most definitely you'll find advertisements ("Consumer Reports" is one exception from this) and possibly comics or satire and little fillers and sidebars which can consist of tidbits of information or statistics, either independent from or related to the articles. Depends on the publication and the subject (gardening? cooking? world events? politics?) and the target market.
There will be a table of contents, a title page, and perhaps a list of sources. There should also be photography and graphics and possibly letters from readers.

Sorry if they are of no use.
