Why on earth are the power buttons on some computer equipment marked with 1 for on, 0 for off?

It's ridiculous...1 and 0 might be binary, but its kinda presumptuous to assume everyone knows that....

R u serious rofl yeah but they should still just use the words "on" and "off"

    It's not a 1. It's the letter I.

    I = power in.

    O = power off.

    It's not just computers. My old backpacking stove is marked that way. It's a long tradition. Nothing binary about it.
