Effy (or Effie as i like to spell it) is more commonly used as a nickname.

usually for the name Elizabeth (though i dont really see how, but it was common years ago).

and no i wouldn't use it as a proper name. i would use it as a nickname.

  • To be honest, if it is pronounced "F E" as it is spelled, I think it is a bad name. If it is short for some name, I could see a nickname, but Effy alone is really not that good. Just sounds too daft in my opinon

I think it's okay for a nickname. Stefanie would be a good full name to use the name Effy with.

I like Effie, my step daughter has a pink comforter she's had since birth. And it's stitched on it "Effie", we said our daughter together would be named Effie, we love it.

I LOVE it! It's so fun and punchy and cute. I think I'd use it though as a nickname for something a little more formal, like Elizabeth. Effie is another pretty spelling I like.

I've always thought the name Effie was really cute, I don't know if that would be my first choice for my own childs name, but I really like it.

I've only heard this name for an elderly women. This means that the girl would have a unique name but may be made fun of...

I think it may be the cause for some teasing, especially if she is a little on the heavy size.

    Hefty Effy

Is it a nickname for something?

I like it only as a nickname for Euphémie or Euphemia or something.
